Little Krishna and the Butter Pot

Long ago, in the green and beautiful village of Vrindavan, there lived a playful little boy named Krishna. He had a bright smile, a loving heart, and a special talent for bringing laughter wherever he went.

Krishna lived with his mother, Yashoda, who cared for him dearly. Each morning, she churned fresh cream into soft white butter and stored it in clay pots. Krishna loved that butter more than any other treat.

One day, Krishna noticed a butter pot hanging high from the ceiling. His eyes sparkled with an idea.

He called his friends. “Come! We can reach it together.”

The children made a careful little pyramid. Krishna climbed to the top, reached into the pot, and pulled out a handful of fresh butter.

But he did not keep it for himself. Krishna passed butter to every friend. Then he carried some to the doorway and shared it with the little monkeys waiting outside.

Soon Yashoda heard giggling from the kitchen. She came to see what was happening and found Krishna with butter on his hands, cheeks, and even the tip of his nose.

“Krishna,” she asked, trying not to smile, “why do you keep taking the butter?”

Krishna held out a little handful to her. “Mother, I was not keeping it. I was sharing it with everyone!”

Yashoda looked at the happy children and monkeys. Her gentle scolding melted into laughter, and she hugged her butter-loving son.

As Krishna grew, his playful heart remained generous. He helped his friends, cared for the animals, and protected the people of Vrindavan.

In another beloved story, a great storm brought heavy rain to the village. Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill upon his little finger, making a vast shelter for the villagers and their animals. Beneath the hill, everyone remained safe together until the storm passed.

The people of Vrindavan understood that the child who shared butter with friends also carried extraordinary love and courage. Whether he was making them laugh or keeping them safe, Krishna filled their hearts with joy.
