Personalization on this site
Tree of Stories can remember things to make reading easier: a child's first name, their age group, which language they prefer, which story they were on, where they stopped in the audio, and which stories they marked as favourites.
All of this is saved only in the browser on your own device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it, and we do not keep a copy. If you clear your browser data, or press "Clear this device" on the Who is reading page, it is gone.
We ask only for a first name and an age group. You can use a nickname, or no name at all — the stories work the same way.
Because nothing is sent to our servers, there is no account to create, no password, and no email to give us for this feature. If we add accounts in future so that progress can follow a child between devices, that will be optional, we will explain exactly what is stored, and the stories will stay free to read without one.
Children
Tree of Stories is made for children to read with their families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The personalization feature stores a first name and age group on the family's own device and nowhere else; we never receive it. A parent or guardian controls this and can remove it at any time from the Who is reading page.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information in some other way (for example by email), write to contact.treeofstories@gmail.com and we will delete it.
